Italian Sausage Bowtie Pasta

Italian Sausage Bowtie Pasta

This Italian bowtie pasta was first introduced to me by my sister-in-law. It is definitely on my husband's top 10 list of meals. He gets excited every time I cook it and I love it too! The red pepper flakes add a little bit of a kick so if you're sensitive to spicy, go easy on the pepper flakes, but if you want to turn it up a notch and make it HOT, I'd add 1 tsp. of red pepper flakes instead of just 1/2 tsp.

Either way you like your spice level- this is an awesome dinner idea that doesn't take all night!

Italian Sausage Bowtie Pasta

1 (12 oz) package of bow tie pasta
2 Tbsp. olive oil
1 lb. sweet Italian sausage
1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes
1/2 cup diced onion
3 cloves garlic, minced
1(28 oz) can Italian style plum tomatoes drained and coarsely chopped (Sometimes I leave them whole)
1 1/2 c. heavy cream
1/2 tsp. salt
3 Tbsp. freshly minced parsley

1. Bring large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook pasta in boiling water for 8-10 minutes.

2. Heat oil in large deep skillet over medium heat. Cook sausage and pepper flakes until sausage is evenly brown. Stir in onion and garlic and cook until onion is tender. Stir in tomatoes, cream and salt. Simmer until mixture thickens, about 8-10 minutes.

3. Stir pasta in sauce and sprinkle with parsley.
